Using the example in Siminoff book, I built a jig to glue the neck to the body.
Here's a closer view of the jig. 
  After lots of sanding, I started staining the instrument.  I used curly maple enhancer, then yellow maple (which was more orange), then red maple.  This is how it looked!  Yuck!!  Time for sandpaper again!
I sanded, restained (using an airbrush)and started scraping the binding.  I'm getting close!
