This is a picture of the neck blank I started with. |

Several hours later (after time with the table saw, band saw, Dremel, chisels, X-acto knives, Bandaids), here's how it looks. |

Mistake #1 (of many to come, I'm sure!) While opening the truss rod pocket 'just a little more', I ground all the way through the peghead. Ouch! Now I have to make a new neck! |

And here is neck #2. This time I used one of Cumberland Acoustic's dual action truss rods. It's much easier to work with! |

I built a jig to hold the peghead at the proper angle for shaping, and here's the result. |

Using my Dremel and my <ahem> keen eyesight, I began routing the channel for the peghead binding. |

and here's the peghead, with all the binding glued in. It still needs to be scraped & sanded. Next step - inlay! I ordered a pre-cut MOP name (Harlan) and fern inlay from FQMS. That's about the only parts I decided not to do myself. |

This shows the peghead with the binding finished and scraped. I have also got the fern inlay routed and glued. I'm waiting on my Harlan to arrive so I can finish this part. |

Here's the finished peghead, with all the inlay done and filled. I'm very pleased with the results. |

My fingerboard was cut it from a StewMac blank. I installed the binding, and set the mother-of-pearl dots. It just needs a final sanding to level the dots to the fretboard, and then fretting. |
