Mahogany blocks are located in the head/scroll, tail, and both points.  Using my patterns, I cut these from a 1-1/2" thick mahogany board.

I got a little carried away on the bandsaw.  It looks like I'll have to build 5 mandolins now!

My first bends!  Here are 2 of the rim pieces clamped into the form.

Here's a shot of the head/scroll bends.

In this picture I've trimmed the ends and clamped the scroll block into place to hold the bent pieces.

The final piece was bent and clamped into place, with the point blocks installed to help hold it while it dries.

Here's all the pieces clamped in the fixture.  I have come to the conclusion that I need more clamps!

Of course, today I couldn't wait to get home from work and spread some glue!  Here is the finished rim.  I'm very happy with the results!

A little block sanding had the rim and blocks leveled nicely.
